Working or broken. Tuned or wrecked. Strung or stripped. We collect uprights, grands, baby grands, digitals, player pianos and pianolas — and we’ll take the stool with it if you want us to.

All of mainland England, Scotland and Wales.

We run weekly routes covering every postcode area on the British mainland — from Cornwall to the Scottish Highlands, from East Anglia to West Wales. Each postcode has its own collection day. Enter yours at the top of the page to see which day we’re nearby.

Assessed. Rehomed where possible. Responsibly recycled.

Every piano we collect is assessed first. Anything we can rehome — a working upright, a tunable grand, a usable digital — we try to place with a player, a teacher, a school or a community project before anything else happens to it.

What can’t be rehomed is dismantled and separated into wood and metals. Landfill is avoided where possible.

Either way, you don’t need to know the detail of what happens after it leaves your house — you just need to know it’s gone, on the day you booked.

A short film about why we try to rehome a piano before anything else.

Transcript: I wish someone else could enjoy this piano now. Piano Recycling try to rehome every piano whenever possible. Easy as that.

Common questions

Will the collection crew damage my piano, my walls, or my floors?

Every collection is carried out by trained, professional piano movers using proper lifting equipment, dollies, straps and corner protection. We move pianos every day of the week. The collection is fully insured against damage to your piano, your property and to people. This is the whole reason the price isn’t £30 in a man-with-a-van ad on Facebook.

Is the price the same wherever my piano is in the house?

The headline price covers ground-floor collection with no steps and a clear path to the van. When you book, you’ll be asked to confirm that. If your piano is upstairs, down a basement, behind a tight turn, or any other access challenge, tick the “access issues” box and describe it in the notes — we’ll confirm any additional charge in writing before your collection day, so there are no surprises.

What counts as standard ground-floor access?

Piano is on the ground floor. No internal or external steps between the piano and the front door. No tight corners or narrow doorways the piano won’t fit through. Van can park within roughly 20 metres of the door. If any of that isn’t true, declare it at booking — it’s much cheaper than discovering it on the day.

Do you take the piano stool too?

Yes, included.

Will you take music books and accessories?

We won’t touch them unless you ask. If you’d like them removed, leave them on the piano and mention it in your booking notes.

What if my piano is a pianola or player piano?

Treat it as an upright (£299). If it’s particularly heavy or in pieces, mention it in the notes and we’ll confirm before collection.

Can I cancel or change my date?

Yes. Cancellations more than 48 hours before your collection day get a full refund. Inside 48 hours, the booking is non-refundable but we can move your date once at no charge. Full policy: Refunds & Cancellations.

Do you collect outside mainland Britain?

Not through this booking system. We don’t offer online booking for Northern Ireland, the Islands, or the Republic of Ireland.

Why pay online instead of on the day?

Booking online secures your date. It also means our crew turns up, takes the piano, and leaves — no payment chat, no card readers, no awkwardness.
